Which version of OpenLDAP are you running ?

What is your slapd.conf exact content ?

Are you sure you've included pykota.schema in slapd.conf ?

You have to choose between LDAP or PostgreSQL as the backend. Personally
I'd go with PostgreSQL but either should work just as fine.
